Our kids get a birthday party with friends beginning at age 4...which is a party at the park with pinata, playing, presents & cake...and then continue every other year (the odd years is family only for dinner or a movie.)
J1 turned 6 back in December, but we always celebrate late January-ish...this past year it got pushed to Valentine's Day...which worked out SO WELL for our theme...
Pink-Cupcake-Baking-Valentine's-Party
First, the prep...my friend Sarah helped me make aprons for each of the girls (and A LOT of cupcakes--thank you Sarah)...As they arrived, they chose an apron, we gathered around the table, I showed them how to read a recipe for cupcakes and they all helped mix up their own batch (cherry chip & pink/red funfetti). They had a great time fun all their own mini-cupcakes. While those baked the girls decorated red plastic boxes and made valentine's to attach to give to their families. Lunch was X, O & heart-shaped pb&j's with strawberries, red grapes, red apples & red koolaid...followed by cupcake decorating(WOW..WHAT A MESS!) After they packed up their goodies to take home they did a pinata & presents. The party favors (along with the aprons) were mini-cupcake recipe books attached to a heart-shaped cookie cutter and a spatula that had cupcakes & hearts all over it (thank you $1-spot at Target!)
I'm sure this will go down as a top 3 favorites girl party for me!
It was SO FUN for me to do this!
